After your facial, you do need to follow protocols to keep your skin soft and supple. It is possible to have post-treatment breakouts, irritation, redness, and blemishes after a facial if you do not follow after-care instructions. You can cleanse your skin with a gentle, non-comedogenic cream, but do not use any cleaner on your face for the first few days after your facial. Also, avoid using toner for the first few days after your facial. Your freshly cleaned skin needs no toner, and do not scrub your skin for 48 to 72 hours following your facial.

What is a Chemical Peel?
A chemical peel removes dead and pigmented skin cells from the epidermis by using different acids. This causes the skin to grow back smoother.
Will I see the results right away after a chemical peel?
Peeling begins approximately 3-4 days after the peel is applied. The results can be seen on day 7. The great thing about chemical peels is that results continue to improve post day 7.
What is so special about a Chemical Peel?
With chemical peels, you can refresh your whole face, provide your skin with a healthy glow and smooth texture, and get rid of those pesky blemishes.
Chemical Peel Post Care Instructions:
The first two days your skin will look a little tan, bronzed, or pink. It may also feel a bit tight before the peeling begins.
As a rule, treat it like a sunburn: avoid sun exposure, avoid sweating and avoid heat.
During the peeling phase you must avoid sun exposure. Even after the peeling has subsided your new skin will be sensitive to UV light. Protect your investment and reapply your sunscreen when outdoors.
Do not pick, pull, or roll the skin as this could lead to significant irritation and possible hyperpigmentation and scarring.
Resuming Skin Care Products:
- Non-Actives: Can be resumed once peeling has subsided, usually day 6-7.
- Actives: Can be resumed once peeling has subsided and sensitivity has returned to normal, usually day 7-10.
Exfoliating products can be resumed 1 week after the peeling process is complete.
Physical Activity / Exercise:
- Refrain for 72-96 hours after peel application. Inducing excessive perspiration can lead to PIH or blistering.
Swimming/Pools can be resumed after the peeling process is complete.
Scheduling the Next Chemical Peel:
- Chemical Peels should be scheduled every 4-6 weeks (for best results)
Additional Skincare Treatments:
- It is recommended to wait for a minimum of 2 weeks before any treatment that creates exfoliation of the skin. (Includes facials, extractions, waxing, and threading)
- Consult with your practitioner for other treatment options.
